that that don't kill you makes you stronger

Gotta love that song. Great work out song. Anways, my Grandpa sends all the college grandkids a quote every month. March's quote was: "The way to develop self confidence is to do the think you fear" (William Jennings Bryan). When I first read it I was like, "yeah that makes sense. Sure." I just took the words and let them go in one ear and out the other. Until yesterday.
Yesterday I auditioned for Young Ambassadors performing group here at BYU. I felt pretty good about it before but I was plenty nervous. The dance audition went horribly. I was crushed. I hadn't really thought about dancing and stuff. I can dance but I can't learn that fast especially when I feel under pressure. I thought my life was over. Ok I wasn't that dramatic but I wanted to give up, to not even go to my vocal audition. I basically let my nerves get the better of me.
I ended up going to the vocal auditon. It took a lot of courage to go. Like a LOT. But I went, I had a positive attitude and I did great! I may not have been as amazing as the other people, but it was my best vocal audition I have ever had! I was happy with how it went. Even though I most likely will not make call backs I am happy and pleased with my performance.
Now here comes the self-confidence boost. Now that I've auditioned once for this, I feel like I can do it again. I can audition next year (and take a dance class before then so I can really rock the dance audition). Or whenever I want to audition for anything else I will be more confident. Even though I know I didn't do well, I feel more confident knowing that I did something that I was afraid of!
Thank goodness for "Grandpa's Goes" quotes!
