oh haiiiii

i'm back! not that i was actually gone anywhere, besides doing cool stuff, obvi. but i haven't blogged in forevs. and since i promised someone that i would blog today, i'm doing it. first off, i think we should all recognize that it's April. March just flew by! and it's got 31 days. cray. i'm already loving April because. . . 

i'm blogging outside on my balcony, in short sleeves. this is epic.

i graduate- from college, not high school- in 22 days!

my sister comes home from her mish in two weeks from this very day.

the sun shines in my bedroom window making napping so much more pleasant.

it's general conference this weekend. supes excited to hear the prophet speak!

accomplished: 

finish The Holy Temple book

finish 2 Nephi and Jacob (I actually got through Words of Mormon)

Get a B on chemistry test (83% baby! i'll take it!)

learn a belt song (in process)

met two knew people in the ward (thank you sushi sluts club)

save $100-$200 (actually saved $400. boom baby)

yes. i would say March was good to me. 

so i finished the Harry Potter series again. guys, i can't help it. i love it. 

also, this is my life. just sayin.

so that's my life. i promise that i won't be so long lax in posting. because i know you all check everyday to see if i've written something, and you are dying to know what the heazy is going on in my life. it's like a freaking novel.  or like an action comic book. i'm basically a super hero. like spiderman. i'm spiderman.

speaking of spiders, remember that one time i held a freaking tarantula?

happy halloween!

if you didn't already know, i love halloween! i literally start planning my costume in the summertime. why do i like halloween? i love dressing up. i love dance parties (they usually happen around this holiday). i like parties with my friends. i like scary movies and haunted houses. i like pumpkins (and pumpkin food). i like candy.
so there you have the reasons i like halloween.
since halloween is on wednesday this year its hard to party it up, but i still did! on monday i went to my ward halloween party. my roommate, Tara, and i dressed up as Thing 1 and Thing 2 from dr. suess. the party consisted of dancing and of course the pie eating contest! i didn't win the pie eating contest. i was the only girl (represent!) and the other guys were like. . . HUGE. i did, however, beat last year's champion, Andrew. in your face! literally. (no really, i threw pie in his face.) it was a fun party despite some small troubles.

tuesday night my old roommate, Natalie, and her husband, Matthew, threw a Harry Potter Halloween party. we just won't even discuss how much i love harry potter. if you don't know then, you will soon know. i LOVE HARRY POTTER! it was such a blast! i went as Ginny. we got sorted into houses (i was in Gryffindor of course), drank chilled butterbeer, ate chocolate frogs and other delicious treats, took our O.W.L.S., played Harry Potter Scene-It, and just had a blast! sadly, Gryffindor did not win the House Cup, but we did our best!

what am i dressing up as today for Halloween? a stressed out college student. #thisisreallife 
what am i doing tonight to celebrate? studying pathophysiology. (diseases are pretty scary.) and then probs watching an episode of gilmore girls. and eat cookies & cream ice cream. obvi.
don't feel bad though. my mom sent me this delicious and festive treat. i'll enjoy that, and then get back to studying.

"you're a wizard harry"

as you should know, yesterday was Harry Potter's birthday. [the character, not Daniel Radcliffe.] i've been wanting to celebrate his birthday since. . . well the entire year, and it was on my summer bucket list. so i got together with Somer's and we made it happen! i made the cake and she made the butter beer. we invited a bunch of people and ate food and watched Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. it was brilliant!

guyssss i love Harry Potter! but then you already knew that. and if you didn't then well just know that i do. so much.
the cake i made for the party was this tie-dye cake. it was so easy too! make the cake mix according to the directions on the box. then divide into six bowls. i used just regular food coloring and colored the batter in each bowl until it was as bold as i wanted it to be.

next pour into the cake pan, one color at a time. you don't have to swirl the colors, simply pour each color on top of the previous color.

finally, cook according to the directions on the box. it's as easy as that!

ps. it's august today! the last couple weeks of summer are upon me! i'm going to be much better about posting, i promise. i may even throw in a few posts about dating, per madeline's request :)

good news

guys i'm done done done with CNA class! i have officially spent 80 hours of training to become a CNA- 16 of those hours in clinicals. i also worked a little more than 20 hours a week while doing that. i am exhausted and have a lot to say about my class. i learn so much! but for tonight i'm going out on the town, i.e. to the dollar theater, with Allison and Jillian. Allison is moving back home tomorrow and i am super sad! she has been a wonderful roommate and friend!
on to other good news.
i received my financial aid notifications this morning. you may or may not know that i have been really stressed about getting the money to pay for school in the fall. i was so nervous to check if i had been awarded anything. blessing! i got more than enough money to pay for tuition and what else i need. i felt tears pushing out and i instantly said "thank you heavenly father for this gift." then i called my mom and we rejoiced. god is merciful. and he cares about what i care about. if there is anything i have learned in college it is that my education is important. and i am willing to work as hard as i need to in order to continue to receive this quality education.
i'll try tomorrow to post about every thing that happened this week as well as the posts i've been thinking about since starting the CNA class. but while you wait for that please enjoy some of my latest harry potter loves.

"all was well"

[it's just a three post kind of day...]

guyssssssss. i finished reading harry potter last night! this journey that started over Christmas break is over. i was... very emotional. like not crying or anything. just feeling a lot of emotions. i've pretty much been even more obsessed than i ever thought i would be. i know, i know i'm a little late bloomer (for just having barely read the books). but hey, better late than never right?

so i wanted to write a really epic post about harry potter, but i just don't know what to say. there are too many words and yet not enough words. i've read many series of fictional books. but i have never been so affected by them as i am by Harry Potter. 

Harry Potter is about family, friends, loyalty, trust, courage, and fighting evil. i can't write eloquently because my mind is still at Hogwarts, so here are just a spattering of thoughts i have about Harry Potter.

- i feel like Fred is my brother. i'm still mourning his loss.

- draco is not perfect, but i pity him. he chose evil because of fear. but it was fear for his family, which makes him a good person.

- i love molly weasley! she is not just a loving mother, but she is a fighter!

- can i just leave this muggle world and go to Hogwarts already?

- i truly liked the first kiss between Hermione and Ron waaaay better in the book. i mean it's good in the movie too, but yeah.

- i gotta get me all 7 books and all 8 movies. pronto.

- it's sad that they don't talk about Teddy Lupin in the movies. that adds so much more to Tonks and Remus and makes their deaths that much sadder!

- i think Neville deserves more credit. i mean when Harry, Ron, and Hermione were not at Hogwarts he basically took over defending it's students and it's honor. he became the leader of Dumbledore's Army.

- i think i'm officially a potterhead. don't you?

i know i just barely posted about the awesomeness that was Hunger Games. but then i was looking at Harry Potter and just reminded about how much i truly love Harry Potter!  first two items of business. did you know that the Harry Potter Wizard's Collection will be released on September 7,  2012. it's $350 on Amazon. whew! but i want it SO badly! especially since it contains gems like this.

isn't he adorable? oh my. secondly, did you hear that JK Rowling lost her billionaire status? i dare say she won't be homeless or anything so don't worry. (she lost the status because she had donated so much money to charity. you go girl!) more excitingly, it was just announced (officially) that Universal Studios Hollywood will be creating a Harry Potter land similar to that in Orlando. It is scheduled to open in 2015. i will be there! BONUS: Pottermore (a Harry Potter companion website) will open to the public in April!

my main man

guys, i know some of you are offended that i deleted my j biebs tribute post. you see, after i wrote it i realized that i was my main man's fictional character birthday. yes, it is, in fact, Ron Weasley's birthday today.
i have one motto in life

and why not? this kid is amazing. i know that he isn't the best looking. he pretty much looks like an awkward mess 95% of the time. but that other 5% makes up for it all. also, he is hilarious! sure, the kid is kinda dumb, but that's ok. i'll roll with it. because he's got a heart of gold. have you seen the way he looks at Hermione?

OH. MY. GOSH. i die. their love story is real. and yet so romantic. and heart wrenching. the kid snogs with Lavender. i mean, Lavender???? and yet, he always comes back to Hermione.
the thing i just love about Ron is that he doesn't assume to be better than he is. he is the best friend of the most famous person in all of the wizarding world, yet he is content with being just Ron. most of the time. sometime's he gets jealous, but he is unfailingly loyal. often he comes out of Harry's battles just as battered and bruised as Harry. He is ready to put his life on the line to save his family, the girl he loves, and the truth.
sure, he started off a little quirky and dorky.

but he grows up. and i love every sarcastic, awkward, rebellious word he says.

Happy Birthday Ron. No offense justin, but this man is a little lot more important than you. i mean, we grew up together.
